Stanwell generates more than 1,600 megawatts of electricity from
thermal and
hydro facilities located throughout Queensland. We bid our available generation capacity into the National Electricity Market, a wholesale market managed by the
Australian Energy Market Operator for the supply and purchase of electricity.
As a leader in asset management, we are implementing improvements that achieve both increased generation and reduced greenhouse gas emissions at our sites. This commitment to excellence in asset performance has resulted in average plant availability of 94.53% across all our sites in 2008-09.
Stanwell also owns the Stanwell Energy Park, a 3,800 hectare industrial precinct based around the 1,434 MW Stanwell Power Station in Rockhampton.
