Future Energy Innovation and Training Hub (FEITH)

FUTURE ENERGY INNOVATION & TRAINING HUB (FEITH)

ICON FEITH REVERSED

Overview

Stanwell’s Future Energy Innovation and Training Hub (FEITH) is a purpose-built facility under development at Stanwell Power Station in Central Queensland. Designed as a flexible and scalable platform, FEITH will support the testing, demonstration and validation of new energy technologies in a real-world, grid-connected environment.

Set to become Queensland’s leading site for energy innovation, the Hub will bridge the gap between new ideas and proven solutions—accelerating the shift towards a cleaner, more diverse energy future. From renewable energy systems to emerging technologies, FEITH enables hands-on development and real-time learning.

The facility forms part of Stanwell’s broader strategy to build a geographically and technologically diverse portfolio, supporting the integration of renewables, storage, and low-emissions technology into Queensland’s energy system.

Project details

FEITH will support small and medium-sized innovative businesses by providing the resources needed to scale their energy solutions through commercial-scale testing.  The FEITH facility will be developed in stages in line with partner requirements.

Common facility infrastructure

Stanwell is currently establishing common infrastructure for the facility, specifically for piloting and testing new battery technologies including the provision of a ready-made power supply within the proximity of the 5MVA transformer at the Stanwell Power Station location.

Pilot testing - Iron Flow Batteries

The first technology to be tested at FEITH will be an iron flow battery, in partnership with Australian company Energy Storage Industries – Asia Pacific (ESI).

This Iron Flow Battery pilot project, currently under construction at Stanwell Power Station, will assess the commercial viability of a 1 MW energy storage system capable of discharging energy for up to 10 hours.
