‘Tis the season for giving and Stanwell is proud to announce four Rocky community organisations will benefit from the next round of the Stanwell Community Partnerships Fund.

Rockhampton Boxing and Sports Promotion, Stanwell Progress Association, Stanwell State School P&C, and Alton Downs Hall Association will all receive funding for key community projects in round one of the 2025 funding program.

Acting Stanwell Power Station General Manager, Scott Coxon said as a long-term operator in the Rockhampton region, Stanwell knows the success of our business is greatly dependent on the support of the local community.

“Stanwell is proud to be able to give back to the community that’s been investing in us for 30 years, and it’s a great time of year to be able to do so,” Mr Coxon said.

“We take a keen interest in community groups who submit projects that will make a genuine improvement to not just their organisation but the region’s quality of life.

“I’d like to congratulate the groups who put forward some really worthy projects and we’re looking forward to seeing them come to life and ultimately improving the liveability of our region.”

Rockhampton Boxing and Sports Promotion will receive funding for building roof repairs and the installation of air vents.

Club President, Russell Thomas said the upgrades were essential for continuing to provide a safe and accessible environment where youth and community members engage in positive activities.

“The club is used by many local groups from across the wider region, including Extreme Trampoline and Rockhampton Dance Academy, all of whom will benefit from these upgrades,” Mr Thomas said.

“The facility’s programs foster social cohesion and community connection by providing supportive and culturally aware recreation and development opportunities to disadvantaged and vulnerable youth.

“Upgrading the facility ensures the longevity of the club, reassuring the community that these important services and activities are here to stay.”

Other projects include:

Stanwell Progress Association will be able to upgrade its kitchen which is integral to hosting community events and emergency preparations. The funding will be used to install new flooring, benchtops and cabinetry.

Stanwell State School will receive funding to replace 12 picnic tables to provide safe, durable and stable outdoor seating which will transform the outdoor area into a welcoming space for students and community members, fostering social connectedness and collaborative learning.

Alton Downs Hall Association will receive funding for hall upgrades including replacing the back stairs, kitchen door, and construction of a storage area ensuring safer facilities for community activities and events.
